It's only occurred to me today that despite covering a lot of miles my fuel gauge and computer estimate has, if anything, increase the amount of fuel I have. I've had 200 miles worth for the past 3 days apparently. I reset the battery and the estimate goes down, but again, remains constantly at the revised estimate... I think I could run out of fuel at any point but my car is lying to me, saying that I have just under half a tank. It's a 1.4 16v comfort. 2001 52000miles. Any help would be aprreciated.

To clarify. No matter how much I drive, my estimate doesn't change...

a sensor in your petrol tank ? a fuse ? could be many things im just guessing tho lol

I'd guess the fuel tank sender has stuck.

I'd be tempted to agree with the stuck sensor, but when I unplug the battery and plug it in, it revises the estimate... But even the revised estimate doesn't decrease. I'm going to fill it up today, see I'd there's any difference.
