MPG on Diesel 105BHP.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just joined Briskoda, (I must say it looks like a great site with loads of relevant info) as I've just bought an Octavia diesel estate 2008 model.

I'm very pleased with my Octavia. I used to own an Audi A4 Avant 110 TDI. I wanted to ask your opinions on the MPG figures for the 105bhp diesel engine. Presently I reckon I'm getting around 47mpg from the octy. I would regularly get 52-54mpg from the Audi even though it had 220,000 miles on the clock. The Skoda has only done 74,000 miles and I dont drive it hard. Around 80mph on motorways and 60 on the open A roads. I dont thrash away from lights or rev high when driving around town. Is the figure the norm for this model or am I unlucky with my engine? Would it be worth getting it re mapped? Could it be that the previous owner didn't run the engine in correctly?

If anyone has any opinions or experience with this engine I'd love to hear your comments.

Many thanks.

I have just sold a 2009 Octavia estate with the 105 bhp 1.9 TDI engine. On long runs (Trondheim - Oslo 500 km) I regularly got 70 mpg. Fully loaded car. Speed limits in Norway are low though - 60 mph is over the limit. If I get vaguely near that with my new 140 bhp CR TDI I will be extremely happy.

That's just my experience. I am no expert on engines, so not sure what needs doing.

In mixed driving with my 2009 105HP 1.9 TDI (BXE engine) I rarely get less than 50MPG, and usually around 53-54 MPG, calculated brim-to-brim.
