Uprating haldex controller

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an octavia 1.8t 4x4 with generation 1 controller - maybe a daft question but is it possible to uprate to the later generation 2 controller - I am not talking about the blue controller!

Best wishes

John

Just, curious as to why you would want too as I have the same car?

Nope

You'd need to swap over the complete haldex trans-axle unit, and work out how to interface the electronics.

You wouldn't gain anything anyway. The Gen2 controller basically works in the same way. Maybe a little more reliable.

What you want is a Blue controller ;)

Their's a Blue controller for Gen2 Haldex too

ahh, ok. So what is this blue controller all about then?

Blue Haldex

The Gen1 and Gen2 controllers have the same response rates. This is down to software, not the hardware.

Is it possible to 're-calibrate' the haldex software?

Blue Haldex

The Gen1 and Gen2 controllers have the same response rates. This is down to software, not the hardware.

The unit is "auto-adjust" depending on the inputs it gets from its sensors, the amount of power and response rate is determined by software.

If a sensor is malfunctioning, then this might account for a delayed response from the haldex.

Scan-able by VAGCOM/VCDS though.

As far as I know, there's no re-calibration via VAGCOM after installing controllers, etc.
