Car Choice Help Wanted!

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I've been lurking on the forums for about 6 months now while I painstakingly tried to decide what car to purchase.

Now to cut a long story short I have pretty much decided to go for a Facelift Octavia (obviously!) VRS Estate Petrol (most likely DSG if it is as good as all the feedback on these forums and most examples have this anyway) preferably with full leather as the main reason for changing from my '09 Honda Civic Type R is that I have 14 month old twins who I imagine as time goes one would love to make a mess of the standard white seats.

The main reason for posting is that I am having trouble deciding what actual car to go with as there as so few around (literally single figures in the whole country) its hard to work out if I am getting the right deal of not.

As I have owned my current car from new, I would rather this time around let someone else take a chunk of the deprecation for me so ideally I was looking for an 09/59/10 plate with under 30k miles.

The best I have found so far is £15k (dealer offering bottom money for my car and not willing to negotiate) 2100/60 plate dsg / 14k miles (two owners, dealer for 7 months + lady for 8) with full leather & electric sunroof.

If anyone who has more experience with these cars can give any advice or comment it would be greatly appreciated.

Basically you are after the same spec as mine ;)

Full leather is hard to find. I've just paid £17k for a 11 plate with 5900 miles on it with Dsg from a dealer

Great family car IMO with decent pace and great value.

What about this one

2011/11 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TFSI (200bhp) DSG/Auto vRS Estate in Blue with full leather

MEADENS ANNUAL SALE - SALE PRICE £16,995

Post links to the cars you're considering and I expect you'll get some words of wisdom (or more likely we'll take the ****, but either way you'll get feedback!)

:)

Btw, petrol vRS is awesome, great choice whichever one you buy.

Have you checked our Cars For Sale forum?

Does the vrs with DSG have paddles as standard?

It's hard to tell from the Autotrader photos.

Yes it does.

Ace, same spec as mine. Great choice.

The leather wipes down very easily - I have two little ones.

The DSG is a perfect match for the 2L TSI engine. Relaxed & torquey when cruising and awesome in sports mode or on the paddles when there are no kids in the car.

Can recommend Xenons if you can find one with them, but appreciate that your choice may be limited.

If your situation allows, be patient, as the right car will come along. Tell a couple of dealers exactly what you are after and they will (should) alert you if your chosen spec, or close to it, becomes available.

You could also do an advanced search on Autotrader & set it to notify you via email when a new car matching your spec is advertised - you'll need to create an Autotrader account - takes 2 mins!

Good luck. It'll be well worth the wait!

Cheers.
