Does anybody know if a 17 x 8.5 rim et40 would fit over 312's? My current ones are et35 and they seem fairly close to the caliper

Should do no problem. At worst you might need some spacers like i use.

There just going to be loan wheels. Don't really want to buy spacers for a months use

Im running et42 but they are 16"

Worst comes to worst cant you trial fit one?

Imo they should fit over the caliper but at 8.5in wide id be more worried about them hitting your strut.
