Help! Suspension Question - Newbie, Be Gentle!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

We've just purchased a 6 month old Octavia Elegance estate with the 1.8tsi engine, and out of habit also purchased a brand new set of Pallas alloys to go with it!

We had originally looked at buying a new car fitted with these wheels and the "sports supension" option, but the savings against buying new (even taking the VAT-free offer into account) were too hard to ignore. The dealer did point out that a set of sports/lowering springs are avaialble to retro-fit, but having done a little more digging I'm now not sure if this is all I'll need.

My question is - are the retro-fit springs the same as you'd get on a factory new order, and is this all that the "sports suspension option comprises or will I also need different shock absorbers to go with them?

Hope you can help.

Cheers all.

Ian.

Probably? Most likely I'd guess they would be - its hard to see why they would offer something different, but if not, does it really matter? As long as the kit is designed for your car and approved by Skoda it should be ok?

The springs should be fine with your OE shocks. Being an approved accessory that's how they've been developed.

That's all great news - had visions of having to remortgage the house for a full kit! Just like to keep things as OE as possible, hence the reasoning behind (hopefully) buying the springs direct from the dealer.

Cheers for the help.
