The 'Good Garage Scheme' may be a good place to look, google it for their website. I have heard good things from people using that site.

Also there may be a car club at the camp who he could ask for advice. I know that at a Naval camp near Plymouth actually had a full time mechanic at theirs and he did work including MoTs at good rates.

I am on the Aldershot garrison - try the MOTest Centre in Farnham (Dogflud Way , next door to Lidl's) - only a few mile away from your boy. I've used it a few times - they are courteous and good prices, and the workshop is spotless. I won't go anywhere else around here. I guess he is familiar with Aldershot area anyway.

I live near Petersfield, about 10/15 miles from Liphook. I use a place locally called Windmill Garage in Clanfield, very friendly, always been honest and helpful pass or fail. My Fabias to new to require MOT yet but I've been using him for past 15 years or so with other cars. Perhaps a little bit further than he wanted but if you want more detail let me know.
