Blinking Yellow oil light on start

Featured Replies

The yellow oil light blinks three times when I start the car. Checked if oil was running low, it wasn't so could it be the filter?

Regards from Iceland, Emil.

I'm not sure that there is a yellow oil light.. Could you get a picture? You might be mistaking this light for a different warning light

Fault code check may highlight an issue with the level sender maybe?

Might be worth checking the bonnet switch in the catch is ok, try disconnecting the plug by the head light and bridging the two terminal together, see if it goes out.

Duff oil level sensor can cause this.

Loose wiring on the sensor maybe? If it's just on initial start up could it be a blocked pipe struggling to get pressure?

Yes, I'm not sure.. But the light blinks a few times even though I don't start up the engine, that is, if I just turn on all electronics in the car without starting the engine.. So it's probably a sensor right?

Does sound like it but check the wiring hasn't come out of its bracket down the back of the engine, can rub on driveshaft.

I believe yellow is oil level, if the level is correct then it could be a faulty sensor

If it's flashing when the car isn't on it's definitely a loose wire

What is the best way to get to this loose wire?
