1.3 and 1.6 clutchs and engine change in a felicia

Featured Replies

Hi was wondering if any one can help me out.

Started to do my engine conversion today and managed to get the 1.3 out and started cutting the hole in bulkhead for air con box.

Was wondering as i got the 1600 on trolley ready to go in car if a 1300 clutch would fit in the 1600 as i have got a new clutch sitting in my shed i know its a 3 piece clutch kit would i need a 1600 one or will this fit or even if i have to use just the plate

Would upload pics of my progress but don't know how to yet

thanks

no, sorry bryden old squire, you need a 1.6 clutch kit, they aren't compatible with each other per se, they are different diameters too. But the release bearing is the same.

I'd be interested to see the aircon retrofit on a felicia, make sure you take loads of photos so you can write up a how to thread afterwards.

does any one know how much PAS oil i need to fill my car and how much oil and grade do i need to fill my 1.6 box

Gearbox oil is about 2.5 litres, off the top of my head. I've used 80W90 without any issues.

the power steering takes less than a litre from dry, make sure you get the right fluid, the stuff you need in a mineral based oil which is a pale green colour, you can get it from skoda for about £10, whatever you do DONT stick ATF fluid in there because it will ruin the pump

I normally use 75w90 gear oil like lodex or similar, as darren says above 2.5L is more than enough.

Did you take any pics or write up any notes specific to the aircon conversion? I'd be interested to see the way the looms are set out and the switchgear etc..

As a matter of interest did you manage to do it without opening the refrigerant circuit or did you just get it re gassed after you finished?
