Does this look to remapped?

Featured Replies

I've had this car a year now and still can't tell lol,was sold stating it was standard but im not sure! Its the only vrs I've drove so can't really compare to much apart from my mates old 130 a4 but that's a bigger car etc so there's going to be difference....here's a video of 40-90 in 4th

Made a balls of the title meant to read;does this look to be remapped**

Hard to tell. Does it pull well after 4,000rpm?

If there's little power and lots of turbo lag below 2k then a loaaaad of boost at 2k that's a good sign it's standard

Yea it seems to go harder after 2000rpm but it's doesn't really suffer from lag that much I think, few seconds if even, maybe a video from a stop would be better?

Boot was filled with cordless tools and toolbox to in the video, probably didn't help.

I personally don't think it is but a few mates with 150bhp astras say the fabia is quicker..

Most mapped cars in Ireland give loads lag to 2k then bang with a wall of torque lol so many cowboy mappers over here!

Look standard to me

Where are ya located exactly mate? I'd say no IMO but its hard to say really. As for mapping, torque tronix, auto tune, and Celtic (Irish pronounciation I think) tuning stick to those and you won't go wrong :) I thought mine was mapped too lol they do go well standard :)

What about your engine warning light ON !!

I think it's trying to tell you something !!

DB.

Would be easier to tell if you took a video of the rev counter whilst thrashing it through the gears

Ah quite a jaunt away, I'm in Armagh

If you have access to VCDS then log fuel from low rev to just past 4., think its block three.

You should be seeing 47mg (I think) being logged at 4krpm.

Being an ex Furby owner ( remapped) there is a reasonably simple way to tell.

If you get torque right up to 4k rpm & beyond then there is a v good chance that it is remapped.

My std furby, had the turbo kick in at 2000 rpm, then would pull like a train to approx 3600 rpm, then you would feel it start to drop beyond this ( not badly , but you would know its running out of steam.)

When remapped it would pull to just on 4100 rpm then i would feel it start to die off, on nice chilled days @ 5deg C it would pull to redline ( only ever did this a couple of times to test) emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Do a 30-70 in third. Standard should be just over 7 seconds.

No need to see how it revs over 4000 etc, you can tell instantly by looking that its slow.

So its either standard, or remapped and there is an issue like the MAF.

Its probably just standard though.

40-90 is taking about 14 seconds. On a mapped car 40-90 is about 9 (so a hell of a lot faster).

Personally I'd be more worried about how loud your car is in the cabin.

It's noisy because the rear seats and carpet were took out and replaced with a sheet of 9mm ply for motocross gear/work reasons

+1 to the above, 40-90 takes about 9-10 seconds if it was remapped.... :giggle:
