Typcal dealer dscount ?

Featured Replies

With a sense that Skoda Yeti's supply problems might be easing in these diffcult times what sort of discount (if any) should I be looking to achieve for a 1.2 Tsi DSG in SE or Elegance trim?

Actual results achieved by forum members for same or similar will hopefully give me some negotiating benefit. I usually ask for the floor, boot mats and mud flaps to be included free in the deal.

What sort of trade in price for a 2 yr old 1.2 Tsi DSG SE could be achieved ??(using Parkers Guide never seems to work for me).

Any advice appreciated.

Milage on the part ex?

Ours is the same model (1.2 DSG SE) and is going in part-ex in seven weeks.

18 months old (60 plate) with 5500-6000 miles on the clock.

My WhatCar magazine (which I freely admit is a few months out of date now as I find their articles dont really vary from month to month!) suggests a discount of £1,100 to £1,200 on the Yeti as their "Target Price".

They say that if your local dealer cant/wont match it, then they will put you in touch with one who can.

Mind you, that doesn't seem overly generous compared to some of the Drive the Deal offers about although you have the added complication of the trade-in. And hawking a trade-in up and down the country can be expensive in itself. But it seems a reasonable expectation.

At almost triple our milage the price is going to be quite different then. I'd expect it to fetch about £11k myself.

With regards to a discount, dealers do vary and there are also places like drive the deal. There isn't really a set figure.

Many dealers can't match drive the deal, but you also have to factor in the cost and convenience (and working relationship) of using a dealer near you if the prices are not daft. My local dealer in East London can usually match quotes from other dealers and having them 10 minutes down the road if I have a problem means I'd rather support them than save an extra £250 and buy the car from an internet dealer up a mountian somewhere.

I wouldn't mention a specific percentage or amount of discount because it varies car to car.

But in the last 18 months we've bought a Yeti and a Fabia there and currently have two Yeti on order. So it shows that local dealers can be competitive too. Go and visit a few local dealers and see what you can get.

Cost to change is the most important thing if you have PX.

Doesn't matter if they give you less discount and overpay you on the PX, or undervalue the PX and give you a cracking deal on a new one.

I can't help thinking you will get a far better deal by selling your existing Yeti privately. Yeti's are still in demand even though the first flush of youth has passed. You can then negotiate free of a trade in and probably do a far better deal - I negotiated over £2,200 off a Yeti 1.2 Tsi Elegance - about £300 less than DrivetheDeal but buying from a local known dealer was worth the extra to me.
