Central locking issue

Featured Replies

I am facing the following issue. It all started a week back when I had to press the remote button, very hard to get the car lock and unlock. I initially thought the battery of the remote has gone down. Then I tried the second remote lock which I had, the result was same. After two three days, the car was not at all responding to any command from the remote lock. To add on to the issues - the electric release of the boot has stopped working. - from the driver side control unit for windows not command is going to unroll the other three windows - electric child lock switch is not working, but I can roll up and down the driver side windows. The individual windows are also working if tried from the individual passenger side controls.

I showed the vehicle to the skoda dealer, he was suggesting, this is the compliant of the window motor and control unit situated in the driver side door. Even thought the motor was working the command unit is sealed along with the motor, hence i would need to replace the whole unit. The final decision can be taken only after disassembling the door panel and looking at the panel condition. I am not satisfied with the explanation, since the vehicle is hardly three years.

Can any one suggest what cold be the exact issue.

I'm afraid I'd be tempted to say I think your dealer is probably correct :-(

I showed the car to the nearest dealer. He said the fuses of central locking three in number has gone off. When the fuse was reinserted the central locking started working. However the next day again the fuse blasted. When i took to the service again, they said the door panels has to be disassembled and checked. It was found that the Convienence controller was heating up and the fuse is blowing. They checked the control module for any internal short and was found ok. They suspect any wiring from the module would have shorted out. Sun roof wiring, four doors wiring checked, but all are intact. Now only two more chances remain. One the control going to the engine for speedometer sensor for locking action and the wiring to central console for door open indicator.

If this no wire shorting is found? what could be the issue? They will check the last two cases tomorrow. Keeping my hands crossed.
