Ive had my CR 105hp for just over 6000 miles now, and its used no oil at all. This seems very odd as most new cars Ive had used a bit of oil in the first few thousand miles... Im wondering if its got the dreaded diesel in oil syndrome as he level seems to move a little now and then, not much only around 2mm or so.

don't worry about it , my last car was a fiat grande punto sporting 1.9 multijet (a commonrail engine, fiat invented commonrail) and I had it from new to 110,000 miles, its had 18,000 mile service intervals, I had it mapped at 4k, and I never, EVER had to put a drop of oil in it! :thumbup:

I've done just over 6000 miles too and the oil level is still at the top of the dipstick.

Only 2 months now until 1st service when unless any unplanned trips mileage will be about 7500.

If you do mainly short journeys, it may be you have some condensation in the oil which evaps off when you go on a slightly longer journey causing the oil level to drop. In winter, condensation build up is not uncommon (in diesel and petrol engines) as the oil in the engine has to be regularly at normal temp for some time to keep the oil clear of condensation. In winter, cold conditions makes this much harder to achieve with a diesel. So a condensation build up can happen very easily with engines that don't have to work very hard and are used for shorter journeys. The 1.6cr engine never has to work hard in normal driving, it has loads of power (brilliant!!!). You can check if this is the case by going on a nice 35-40 mile weekend run at a good pace. Check your oil before you leave and then with the car in the same spot, check it again when you get back. I bet the oil level is much lower as you will have evaporated some condensation from the oil. I very much doubt you have oil rise due to diesel contamination unless you only drive 3-4 miles to work and back each day or drive it very gently all the time and don't do any other driving.

I was using it for many long trips until November, when its been mainly used for work. However, after I go the rough running I regularly exercise the car! I dont spare the horses now, so its getting plenty of warm longer trips too... and its running much better for it.
