glowplug relay problem

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia 1.9 TdI yr 2000 estate . The relay has been playing up in the sense that the relay would not kick in on every key turn and took a couple ogf goes sometimes. It now seems to have packed up completely as no glowplug light appears. Can anyone tell me where the relay is situated and any problems that may arise with its replacement?

Looking at the Haynes Manual "Checking the voltage at the gloplug" it does state that either the relay[WHERE APPLICABLE] or associated wiring must be faulty. Also it says that on some models there is a gloplug control unit incorporated in the ECU[ENGINE CONTROL UNIT].Most of the relays are situated behind the drivers side lower facia panel.Be careful as some look the same but do a different job!

The 109 relay can cause problems. It helpfully has 109 stamped on it but the actual part number for it is completely different.

IIRC it isn't the glow plug relay but it supplies power to the ECU.

As stated above the relays are behind the trim under the steering wheel.
