HTC Desire

Featured Replies

Due to a recent upgrade I have for sale my 18 month old HTC Desire (SLCD screen). It is locked to 3 and is running the latest version of Android currently (officially!) available for the Desire - 2.3.3 (downloaded from the HTC website).

The phone has been fitted with both a screen protector and silicone case from new and is therefore in good condition.

I have the original packaging, USB charger, micro USB cable, silicone case, several spare screen protectors and a 2Gb SD Card.

The battery life is little different than when the phone was new (~ 1 day with regular use).

I have returned the phone to factory settings and as such it is ready for the next owner. It will however require "unlocking" should you not have a 3 sim card.

Bargain at £110 + postage (Royal mail special delivery).

For anyone who needs this unlocked, it's fairly easy to do for free. I unlocked my T-Mobile Desire using a bootable CD provided here:

It looks like the boot CD version has been replaced with a native Windows version, but this should SIM unlock the handset in a few easy steps.

Thanks for the tip - trying it as we speak.

Where are you based? If you are close I'm more than happy to help you do this.

Did you manage to get it unlocked?

Unfortunately not. I followed the instructions in the earlier link, but it is still locked to 3.

I did speak to 3 customer services and they told me they can unlock it for £15, but that it would take up to 2 weeks for the code to be available.

Thanks for the offer - I'm based in North Notts.

A work colleague, who is the resident expert on these matters, was also unable to unlock it.

Might be that your HBOOT and/or radio version are too new.

I can see from the screen that the radio is and so quite probably the HBOOT is too.

How many times did you try? I notice from the thread and also from when I was rooting my Desire that it can take a few go's before it will work.

I tried it 3-4 times and my work coleague also had a few go's.

I did update the phone quite recently with the "developer kit" Android 2.3.3 from HTC's website, so maybe the software is too new.

Thanks for the advice though.
