Servicing recommendation - Hampshire

Featured Replies

Evening everyone,

I have a couple of niggling issues with my VRS TSI but due to being tied up with work, house moving etc I have not yet found time visit a dealer! I have a the week after next off but I am unsure where to book her into! I got the car from Skoda Winchester but the little time I spent in the servicing department did not instil me with confidence, does anyone have any recommendations as to where the best Skoda service department in Hampshire is?

I have had bad experiences in the past with VW servicing so am a little nervous about letting my pride and joy out of my sight!

Thanks!

Chris

Haven't tried their serving department but Sparshatts of Fareham were very impressive when it came to sales and PDI / car prep.

Not sure where you are in Hampshire but it has to be JKM in my opinion. Even if you have to travel, it is worth it. They are also sponsors on this site if you look at the traders section on here.

Another possibility is SJB in Basingstoke but I haven't used them myself.

However, standard servicing should be very routine for anyone, even the dealers!

PS Since 2008 (I think) you do not have to visit a dealer for a warranty to be maintained. Anti-competition laws changed back then changed to make it illegal for dealers to insist on this.

Weve had 4 Skodas & always had them serviced & repaired by Winchester Skoda. We have never bought from them as they were never the cheapest at the time but Ive never had an issue with the workshop, 2 of the cars did 85000, one 165000 & the currect ones on about 50000 so we are reosnably regular visitors. Ive had many cars in my time of varying brands & in my opinion they are one of the best dealers I have come across so dont rule them out.

we bought one car from Sparhatts, agreed several years ago but only had one dealing with the service dept & I was extreemly under impressed.

If its not under warranty then I would say for VAG independants you wont go far wrong with JKM as already recomended. To go a bit farther afield AH Autos in Guildford are also very good. Ive used them a few times on my sons cars

Thank you all very much for your replies, I have booked it into my nearest dealer in Basingstoke so I will reserve judgement until Monday evening! I will let you all know how it went!

I go independent and use TGM in fleet even though I'm walking distance from city Skoda in Basingstoke. Independent rates FTW

Interesting, they're about 3 minutes from where I live! So you recommend them do you?? I've seen their sign flapping by the side of the road loads of times as i've driven down Fleet road.

Do indeed mate, very reasonable rates and have used them for My Civic Type R, Fabia VRS, wifes old Civic R, Golf, Teg, Jazz and the Octy

The guy who owns it is called Tom, really nice chap although quite often very busy. They also do bodywork

For you its great as you are so close, we have to go off into Fleet to kill some time but I would rather use him than a dealer. Trust what he has to say and if it doesn't need changing, he won't do it

I would like to add I am not in any way affiliated with him. I am still a frequent user of the Type R owners forum and he is a trader on that site.
