I have a Fabia 1.9tdi (2001)which i have had starting issues with when its cold for a few years. I have had it in and out of garages and nobody seems to be able to cure it! Starts fine after the initial start, sometimes it gets near critical before it starts and warning lights and sounds come on!

done all the obvious, glow plugs etc.....right now, its almost like the battery isnt man enough to start it, it turns over really quite slowly. So, what about a beefier battery I was thinking??? so my question is, can anyone tell me what type etc battery I should buy? thanks in advance, Donna

it at present has a Varta Blue Dynamic battery on it 44ah 12 v

Do you know what, the main dealer put that battery on for me a couple of years ago! They also had the car in there for the starting issues and they never picked up on it, what a bunch of scheisters!! Hubby just gone to get me a bigger one, thankyou for your reply!

Lol, I got one locally yesterday, 72AH cost just short of £80 but has 3yr guarantee. Car started much much better this morning, even sounded healthier, though not on the first turn like my sons does :( however, no smoke belching out when it did start so all good. Fingers crossed it will be ok now, will see when we get a freezing cold morning

Thought I had better post an update, new battery has done the job!! turns over and starts soooooooo much better now, so job done!
