Fabia Vrs 100k service

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm about to get a 100k service done on my Vrs, the cambt is 30k old and breaks are 10k max so no problems there

The oil inwas looking at was Castrol GTX 10w-40 part synthetic i have checked and this is VW 505.0 standard is this ok?? Or would you advise fully synthetic? I'm doing around 1000 mile a month.

I've picked up a fuel, oil, air and pollen filter.

Any other things I should look at??

Cheers in advance

BRAKES!

505.00 is fine if you are on fixed intervals otherwise you need 506.00 which has been superseded by 507.00 if you are on variable.

Part synth or fully synth doesn't really matter, it is the spec that is important.

Brakes are fine I check them all the time as I do loads of driving. Before a long journey I check and fluids and brakes.

I religiously service my cars every 8-10k it's 8k since the last one was done on the Vrs when I bought her

Only reason I ask about this oil is its on sale in asda £10 for 4l and it's 505 so maybe worth a shot. I ain't a mechanic I'm an IT technician lol

I was pointing out brakes instead of breaks.....little bugbear of mine :giggle:

If you service every 10k then 505.00 is fine.....

I'm an IT tech too

Hang on, hold your horses!

Aint it 505.01, which is nearly always 5w40?

The newer spec to look out for is 507.00, however the older 506.01 is ok too?

Check the sticky at front of the threads, you really dont want to put the wrong oil in for the sake of a few pounds.

:)

even more so with the newer specs too

Since i had the turbo go at 60k odd ive used 507.00, it can be had for reasonable prices if you look

505.01 5w40 and fully synthetic not part synthetic. Castrol edge turbo diesel 5w40 would be more suitable.
