Tuning 140 Common Rail Diesel

Featured Replies

I have a new Superb Elegance CR140DPF and am missing the power from my old chipped Passat 130PD which supposedly gave about 170bhp with chip fitted, bags of extra torque for towing and excellent mpg (never below 50mpg). I couldn't get a 170 Elegance without a long wait so I thought I could chip up the 140 but hadn't reckoned with the DPF.

Has anyone any experience in removing the DPF, or at least the guts out of it and then chipping for more bhp and torque?

Energy Tuning Ltd offer "dpf removal and ecu mods from £299. Optional performance ecu upgrade from £99 extra" Anyone had experience of these people?

I have access to a ramp and welding gear so could possible do the DPF removal/degutting myself but would like some guidance on where to start.

Thanks in anticipation.

Shark are only in Mansfield and offer both remapping and DPF removal. Very helpful guys too, I'd start off by speaking to them and you can then negotiate whether you'll do the removal yourself or have them do it. Come highly recommended from me :)

The newer ECU's also have to be removed and physically opened up to remap them, not sure if your price above includes that or is for a std remap? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does removal of the DPF in any way invalidate warranty ?

I know its possible and there have been many debates/posts as to whether it is legal etc., but I was wondering about warranty with a new car.

I would think so yes especially with regrds to the engine , the dealer couldnt argue that removing the DPF caused a panel to corrode or a wheel to come off but expect a hard time if engine or drivetrain fail

If you read the warranty paper you will see that it doesn't work like that. It's not a warranty on the parts of the car,it's on the entire car.Once you remove the DPF the warraty becomes invalid. My car is remapped(via OBD,without opening the "box") and the DPF light never lit(I did 50.000 miles since).

I too have the 170CR, who did your remap?

Had both my Superb's mapped by Ben at Shark, I have a PD140 mapped to about 180BHP (with DPF still fitted and 50,000 on the clock), and a TSi remapped to 205BHP. both are now transformed and much better to drive and not a single problem!

I wish someone would offer remapping of the 1.6Tdi. For the time being, the encrypted ECU seems to have eluded the tuning industry.

I don't know whether there are any tuning companies which would offer remapping to 1.6TDi but tuning boxes do exist. Have one of them fitted to my Greenline and so far it has worked just great.
