  1. Accepted Codes checked and reset professionally on almost brand new Snap-On scanner. Error came back the next time I started the engine. 25 years in Engineering/Motor Trade here, not some modern day dumb f**k "fit a new one!" technician! Genuinely seeking help not a slap on the wrist!

  3. Other than what I have already tried would you suggest I do? The point of my question was how do I find out why the light is on? I am stuck as to what to try next?
  4. My engine light came on the other day. Car is 2020 Kodiaq L&K 2.0 tdi. All codes and fuses checked. Clean fuel. No water contamination that I know of. Fully serviced. Been told it could be the signal wire from AdBlu pump??? AdBlu topped up a few days before with 'old' fluid. I bought 25l and decanted it into 5 x 5 spotlessly clean containers. Does it degrade with age? If so, can I drain it out?
  5. Have the centre bearing on the propshaft checked. I had an 'Edition' of similar vintage and that would start vibrating at just under 70mph and stop at about 78mph. Made it very difficult to get anywhere quickly but comply with the law. Ended up just sitting at about 66mph and all was fine. Had the car on a ramp and there was definite 'play' in the bearing! Subsequently changed the car so perhaps you've got it now (lol)! Mike

Does anyone know if 19" steel wheels are available second hand? Kind regards, Mike
  7. Didn't say you had to take the wheels off!! Just implied that it was easier if you did! Why are people so hasty to criticise? Don't often visit the site and remember why now.
  8. Fitted my Genuine Skoda Mudflaps to my Kodiaq today and was genuinely disappointed by the complexity of fitment for the front pair. The Rear were a doddle as has been previously stated but there was the "Simply Clever" element missing from the fitment design for the fronts. My wife was appalled when she saw what I was doing and didn't believe that I was following the manufacturer's instructions and read them for herself. She just couldn't believe that one had to cut a bit off an almost brand new motor car to fit one of it's accessories. That said, this doesn't mean that it is a dealer job. Anyone can do it and if you're prepared to take the wheels off then it truly is a job anyone could tackle.
  9. I too have been considering going down the 16" route. I bought my Superb partly because of the positive comments from fellow sufferers with spinal problems and good as the car is, the ride for me is let down by the 18" Thermisto wheels and 'rubber band' tyres. I am seriously considering selling the Thermisto's/tyres and buying a set of 16" Cades Eros alloys which seem to have been fitted to the Audi TT at some point. I have checked with my insurer and all they are worried about is the cost of replacement so seem OK on that score. Does anyone have any experience with these Cades alloys or able to make any other recommendations? I would have liked a 16" version of the Thermisto's but they don't exist. I am also considering putting all weather tyres on them. Again any tips or experiences would be welcomed. Thanks in anticipation, Mike
  10. I have an Elegance fitted with 18" Luxon (I think) Alloys as standard and the original tyres are coming to the end of their life. I would like to change to 16" (awaiting insurer approval) for the comfort aspect and wondered if anyone knows of a similar looking wheel in the smaller diameter. I don't fancy the look of the Spectrum alloys and am not sure if the insurer will insist on a genuine Skoda wheel. Thoughts/ideas/suggestions anyone? Kind Regards, Mike
  11. I too have the V7 DVD but unopened, in genuine sealed Skoda packaging. Same price would be acceptable but UK mainland postage only. Thanks, Mike
  12. I've had 'chips' on 3 Passat's and have found them excellent. My son chipped an Ibiza and a Passat, again excellent results. All diesels. My son has since had a remap on a T5 transporter. Good but not as impressive and without the fuel economy improvement seen on all the others so lots of practical experience to support tuning chips. I acknowledge that there are good and bad 'chips' but from what I read here there are good and bad remaps so don't write chips off unless you have some overwhelming evidence to back it up. Incidentally, I'm currently looking for a chip for my Superb 2 140 as it's a bit short on torque and the consumption is poor compared to my previous 'chipped' 130 Passat. Any recommendations? I note some chip suppliers offer a refund if you're not happy. Do the re-mappers do this? Festive greetings to all, Mike
  13. One of the reasons I bought my Superb Elegance twin-door was the comfort. I have quite serious back problems and lots of research pointed to the Skoda Superb as being the car to have. However, it sits on low profile 18" rims which transmit every dimple/rut/cats eye through the suspension to my back (yes it really is that sensitive). The front tyres are looking shot at almost 11000 miles so I am going to have to change them. Does anyone know if I can go for a higher (or is it lower?) aspect ratio tyre on the same rims to give me a taller side wall and hence a softer ride or will I have to go down to 17" rims? It looks a bit tight under those wheel arches! Thanks in anticipation, Mike
  14. To add to my previous comments and Ashmonuts comments on 'Brand Snobbery' I can honestly say that in 45+ years of motoring, nobody has ever come up to me in the street and asked my what my car was, until I got my Superb. "BMW? AUDI?? No - it's a Skoda" "Oh - nice car!" And it is. Mike
  15. Brookwood, I had the benefit of a 4 day trial of the estate and took the good lady, my daughter, grandaughter and associated pushchair (and all the other paraphernalia associated with a baby) on a 500 mile round trip to South Wales and to be honest I felt there was more room in my Passat Saloon. I thus tried the Superb Twin Door and it's cavernous by comparison. I've found that the rear seat squab will unclip and stand upright like the estate so the rear seats go perfectly flat and the business of a rear windscreen wiper is a joke. I've had Passat's since 1996 and never a rear wiper. The rear screen heater/demister keeps the screen clear in the rain. The twin door keeps you dry when loading but you can open the smaller boot lid when you need it. Truly a 'Superb' car. Get the twin door - Rosso Brunell - Superb Colour! Mine is a 140 and after a disappointing start is now starting to return over 50mpg which I always got with my Passats. Looking for a good tuning "chip" now to improve the mpg/torque before hitching up the caravan in September. Any suggestions anyone? Mike
