Fujitsu Scaleo E Media PC

Featured Replies

Hey folks.

Looking at selling my Media Center PC for something a bit smaller.

It's a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo E. Built it from a barebones about 2 years ago and still going strong. Will play HD silky smooth right up to 1080p. I have also been using a Freeview HD tuner and HD TV channels play and record just as smooth. I have had three tuners set up and it' not bat an eye lid at recording 2 channels while watching another or watching a HD movie etc.

Also works very well in regards to scheduled recordings. Put it into hibernate and it wakes itself up to record 2 mins before the show starts then hibernates again afterwards.

The specs are as follows:

Pentium 4 630 3.0GHz HT (single core but dual threaded so decently quick)

3GB RAM

MSI Geforce 8400GS Fanless

WinTV Nova T-500 dual DVB (freeview) tuner card

DVD reader/writer

It does not come with a windows lisence or a HDD you will need to supply your own of these. I have been using a 2.5" laptop HDD as it was nice and quiet.

I have removed the original CPU fan and mounted a 120mm silent one in there.

The PSU fans have been changed for some silent ones (white shiny white LED's).

I have also removed a lot of the internal cabling that was in originally (still have it) as it came with a add-in PCI-e card that just used the on-board graphics and it had scart in/out etc but this doesn't work with the upgraded card etc.

The whole thing is very very quiet. I can not hear it over my NAS drive in the corner of the room. The fans run very quiet even while watching HD content (most of which is handled by the GPU in Windows 7 and not the CPU).

Comes with a wireless keyboard with a mouse ball (the PC has a built in receiver). Doesn't have the remote as the infrared receiver inside is broken (common problem) but you can buy new MCE remotes from ebay etc.

In good cosmetic condition just a couple of light scratches on and one of the clips at the side of the front flap is broken but it still opens and shuts and barely noticeable.

Here is what it looks like (not the actuall one. Will add them once I have taken some):

You don't want a Revo to replace it with do you Phil? ;)

Haha. That is actually the sort of thing I was going to replace it with but going more down a budget route and not for a while yet.

I also think I want a newer gen. Atom dual core with a bit more ooomph to it.

Someone make me an offer?

I am flexible on price as it has to go really... my computer collection is ever growing... :giggle:

It will now include the remote and an external usb IR receiver.

It is the remote that is pictured above. It's a proper MCE compatible one as is the receiver.

This really does have to go as I've already got it's replacement! ooops!
