Fabia Front Seat Removal - how?

Featured Replies

Would someone please advise whether I can readily take out the front passenger seat from my Fabia vRS without tools? Or failing that the backrest only?

I realise I could undo the four bolts holding the runners to the floorpan but was wanting a quicker tool-less method if possible.

Reason for request - carrying long loads (timber, stepladder, etc) without the risk of damaging the seat - I can fully recline it after having taken out the rear seat squab but it then leaves the facing vulnerable.

(p.s. BTW as well as taking the rear seat squabs out as noted in the handbook, the backs also readily come out when the catches are rotated...)

(p.p.s. please don't suggest roof bars - that's more hassle than unbolting the runners...)

nope there isnt any way

seats that come out easy arnt safe :)

I was surprised how easily the back seats come out - compare those to the "heavy engineering" in the Freelander previously.

My 2CV's front seats just slid out after taking out a pin - I'll have to try unbolting the runners to find if there's anything lurking in there similarly...

You need to undo the four 10 spline bolts to remove the seat, plus disconnecting any wiring for side airbags or heated seats if fitted.

It is advised to renew the spline bolts as they are pre coated with locking compound and be very carefull, the spline part is quite shallpw, if your not in there properly it will round off as normally they are tight.

Thanks for the advice - I wonder if the garage renewed them when the seats were taken out to be retrimmed?... I'll possibly try extracting one of the front ones to see if it comes out without any effort...

... and for completeness I'll also mention the optional CD changer - though that's the only connection in my case...
