After some idiot cracked my rear-left light lens and drove away without stopping, I was forced to look into replacing it and, in the process, I made a couple of useful discoveries:

Removing a Yeti rear light cluster is very easy! The excellent design means that anyone with a Torx 20 key (like a small allen key) can do it in less than 1 minute.

1. Open the boot lid,

2. Unscrew the 2 torx screws that attach the light to the bodywork,

3. Pull the whole light unit rearwards and wiggle it (just a little bit),

4. The whole unit will 'pop' out of the bodywork, be careful not to pull too hard as you might damage the wiring,

5. Unplug the electrical block connector,

6. Change your bulbs or replace the lens unit or whatever...

7. Re-attach the electrical block connector,

8. Push the whole light unit back into place and tighten up the torx screws.

job done.

A genuine replacement lens unit is about £60 from skodaparts.com

Or you can get a re-engineered light unit (not a genuine skoda part) for £37 from crashrepairparts.com

So, two interesting findings:

1. The Yeti rear light fittings are a very clever design, easy to replace but hard to steal (because the boot lid must be open).

2. Replacement light fittings are cheap and easy to find.

Good old snow monster!

to replacing a Skoda Yeti rear light cluster.

Removed the rear light units today.

One of the plastic retainers (3) for the ball head pins had never been intalled completely in the bodywork, so this one followed the rear light unit out.

Added some silicone grease on the ball head pins so the unit will be easier to remove later.

Thank you!  Very helpful even though an old post.

That should be everyone, there is one in the tools under the floor in the boot.

Does anyone know of a similar guide for the third light unit in the centre of the boot-door?
