Buying a higher mileage vrs

Featured Replies

What should i look out for when viewing a 70-80k vrs (06 petrol), exterior and interior wise it looks mint but mechanically what should i test/look out for

thanks in advance

look for full service history, make sure the cam belts and water pump has been done £300 job if not, make sure the esp works its a common fault, start it from cold and look for blue smoke.after that think it just like most other cars.I have a petrol 57 plate vrs that i picked up 5 months ago with 74k on and its has been spot on and from what i have read about the vrs petrol they seem to be a good well built robust car with a very good engine and not many problems.

For the ESP try switching it off (button on the lower bit of the centre console) the light should come on. There are reports of dealers allegedly removing the bulbs to hide the faults.

As said service history and cam belts (and water pump hopefully). Annual servicing is better to have the variable (more frequent oil changes) but it's debatable if it really makes much of a difference.

Mine is an 07 with 54k and runs like new. No reason to think it won't continue to do so for many miles. TFSI seems to be a good robust engine.
