lens price advice.

Hi,

I have been offered a tokina 11-16 mm lens for 400, bought for 480 originally. Is this a good price? I was thinking of offering 370. Because I have always wanted a sigma 10-20mm which you can buy new for 370.

Btw It's for a NIKON

I'd love the 11-16, f2.8 aswell aint it?

The ones I have looked at do hold the price well, 370-400 sounds a good price TBH

I looked at that Sigma and eventually went for the Sigma 8-16mm. Image quality is a match for the 10-20mm but the extra 2mm really does make a large difference. It's a great fun lens and does silly things when close up :D I really meant to do more landscapey things with it, but instead I have just .....er.....well.......buggered about with it :) it gets great reviews too

2.8????

For a 11-16mm I would have thought it would be either a 1.8 or maybe a 1.4 even for Tokina.

For the money I would have said the asking price was a bit steep. emoticon-0120-doh.gif

Just checked -

Yeah its constant f2.8

You dont get usually wide apertures on UWAs as 90% of people stick to around f8 for DOF and sharpness.

Considering they sell new now at around £550?

Depending on condition, i would spend £400 on one...

Although i bought the sigma 8-16 this week

had a look on ebay and 4 used Nikon fit lens have been listed in the past 2 weeks. they have gone for between £400 and £430, so the price is in the right range.

That's a nice lens, I recently sold a Tokina 28-70 f/2.8 only to replace it with the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8. The Tokina's produce some sharp images and generally get good reviews. I'd rate them over Sigma kit.

I bought a Tamron 10-24 about 3 years ago and it's perfectly adequate for the few times i've used it, as said above, it's not a heavily used lens, it just sits on the shelf at home.

I just got the sigma 8-16
