Thanks for the reply, i should be okay then, i use diesel exellium :) i think we have talked about diesel on a previous post too :)

You will have no problems, when injector 2 broke on my old GL2 it the DPF light came on and loads of grey smoke came out of the car.

All the dealer did was take the car for a good run when fixed.

Seems ludicrous that buying a new car should then involve having to worry about using the right fuel - usually the most expensive - and driving in a particular (no pun intended) way in order for the car to have no problems. If the manufacturer can't meet the emission rules without inconveniencing the end user then get the rules changed!

I use bog standard diesel, drive normally, teach learners and have had no worries in 2 years with my dpf... The light comes on sometimes, particularly if I have had complete newbies or doing slow stuff all day. A short jog down the duel carriageway soon disperses any built up soot deposits. It is not a fault but a system for storing, then burning off these deposits at higher temperatures, when driving a little faster, for a few miles.

Don't really agree it helps the climate, though as driving for the extra miles (Unless you already cover this journey, asI usually do), Burning hotter, will cause MORE warming, surely? The big difference is that it will be away from the populated, slower areas where you accumulated the sooty deposits, whilst driving slower.

No problem with my dpf, infact it went off as soon as i put my toe down on the slip road to get on dual carriage way ha, much better than Audi's i take from reading their forums! :)

I've not yet had the light come so the active regens during my basic journeys must be enough to clear the DPF without a special longer run.

My gripe is the reduced mpg following each active regen for a few days. This year I was typically getting a (displayed) 55mpg for each trip until the regen and now 48mpg, a drop of over 12%.

Delta, is that partially down to winter diesel and using all the electrical stuff as well? My guess is it may well be and it will shoot back up as spring hits us. My Fabia is doing much less to the gallon at the moment too and I don't have a DPF. I'm using the electrics a lot and of course the lights. It's pretty much the same for all of us. I get about 6mpg less all the time in winter.

Yes definatley the winter fuel knock mpg and combined with the colder temps it's a double whammy
