Strange wheel/tyre noise could it be serious?

Featured Replies

Second strange noise this week.

Over the past week the road noise from the front end of my car have increased significantly from 35mph+. The noise sounds like what you would get from the tyres only much louder. It happened more or less over night. i initially put it down to the new tyres bedding in (2,000 miles).

However, a few things have me worried it's not the tyres. Firstly it happened so rapidly and the tyres should have bedded in ages ago, and secondly, and more strangely it only happens when going straight or turning right, but as soon as i turn left by more than a few degrees the noise isn't there. this is all on main roads at 40mph plus.

I also have a strange noise from the engine when i turn the car off which started roughly the same time (in another thread) could this be coincidence???

All help or advice appreciated.

Wheel bearing id guess

Soz double post lol

yup thats what i would guess at, are wheels all balanced properly?

Definitely a wheel bearing.

Id recommend getting it replaced ASAP,

left mine too long on my old car, and cost me a new CV joint into the job...

DOUBLED the cost of that trip to the mechanic...

Wheels were balanced when new tyres fitted in December.

Will get it to the mechanic this week.

Thanks

Make sure your mechanic uses a press to get the old bearing out as its very easy to damage the abs ring thing

I'll go for wheel bearing too :-)
