Number Plate Bulbs W5W 501?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Looking at uprating the number plate bulbs and im stumped....cant even replace bulbs so i feel like im losing man points.

I have been searching around and found W5W 501 are the bulbs to have but when i look around to buy them they all look likethey have different connectors.....does anyone have a link to the right ones? and if so i want some relatively cheap led error free ones.

God help me when i move on to the head lights......i know they are H4 but can these error too?

Thanks in advance

I have normal W5W number plates bulbs

Capless IIRC.

The H4s you cannot muck up, Philips Extreme vision are good. Just dont touch the bulb glass when fitting.

and take care when you eventually get around to fitting, as the bulb holders have a habit of vanishing off into the tailgate!

My screws were rusted solid. I ended up getting access (easy, too!) by removing the inside cover from the tailgate. 5 min job.

I replaced mine last week matey, with these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270851171693?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Very bright, good value and no problems! Only thing whilst fitting is to remember that they are polarity sensitive, so the bulbs need to be in the connectors the right way round. Also as they're a bit longer than standard incandescant bulbs you might not be able to nip up the cover as tight, but mine is still fine. Only a mm or so in it.

Don't you worry I'm a dab hand at taking that panel off now after my boot release failed.

I'll look at those eBay ones but would prefer some that fit perfect. I was considering some blue tinted ones but unsure on te legality of then
