Anyone have a problem with Vagcom not reading the engine modules? Fixed*

Featured Replies

I've had a problem with my Octavia 1.9tdi auto since we got it.

The head went a year ago and I had it replaced, set the timing up manually , went to check it with Vagcom but it wouldnt read the engine data

Found out this is a common fault due to some failure in the instrument cluster.

Yesterday I got the courage up to remove the cluster and resolder any dry joints on the board.

It worked perfectly, an hours work maximum and Vagcom now works perfectly.

Well worth doing, and the fuel gauge now reads correctly too :)

I've been here for ages but rarely post on either these days

Next job I have planned is replace the gearbox oil, not simple as it's the auto box,

The dearest parts are the filter at £24.25 from Skoda, but you can buy the same one on eBay for £8

The oil is special oil and around £11 a Litre from Skoda but after a lot of research I discovered that

Halfords sell one with the same spec

The Comma ATF & Power Steering Fluid meets the requirements of many specifications including VW G 052 162,

and it's only £29.95 for 5L (or £23.99 with a trade card)

Halfords cat code 262423-0 MVATF5L http://bit.ly/w5FaKU Bargain :)
