Performance exhaust for PD170 Hatch?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Before I go for DPF/EGR delete and a remap I am considering changing the exhaust system.

Does anyone sell an off the shelf full system to fit a PD170 hatch?

I have never used a custom exhaust place before, but guess that's one option. :wonder:

Thanks

Spoke to someone who can supply the Milltek systems for the Petrol Vrs, he reckons they should fit and be "ok" with the PD engine. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

I am only looking for Cat-back.

Little bit put off by the "custom" exhaust place I visted earlier :S

Ive got a 170cr vrs estate and ive been doing some measuring and research, In my opinion (also as a skoda tech) they will fit. Previously i had a octy vrs petrol on a 57 plate running a revo stage 2+ with a full miltek on when i sold the car i stripped it back to stock, sold the cat but for some reason kept the system. The down pipe on the diesel ends in exactly the same position as the petrol (taking some measurments from certain places) All the hangers are in the same place and the routing is going to be the same. The only thing is you will need a reducing sleeve from the miltek which is about 70mm to the 60mm on the down pipe (which i got when i bought the miltek originaly) sorry for the long explanation but yes it should fit ok

Thank you for your reply. After reading more into it on the ibiza pds they appear to have the same part numbers for petrol and diesel milltek systems. So a similar senerio for the octavia.

I will probably give a petrol cat-back system a try, with the normal silencers in place to limit the drone. Maybe a piper or similar. Looks like Supersprint have the same part numbers for the octy diesel and petrol hatch, not sure if they have mid silencer in though.

I spoke with Milltek about this around this time last year. They couldn't confirm it either, which put me off if they couldn't even be bothered to test their own system on a TDI and possibly make some more sales!

A bit more info from me, at the time:

So I went to Pipewerx who are quite local to me and had something custom made up to my requirements. And I haven't looked back, cheaper than Milltek and simply the best bit of exhaust manufacture I've seen. Top quality and great service, and sounds pretty decent for a diesel now :)

This was required on mine as part of a turbo failure. I probably wouldn't have changed it otherwise, as the gains on a TDI system aren't really worth doing it for, compared with a petrol.

Mine's a PD140 but the systems are the same...

Hope this helps.

Yeah nice one steve. Agree about Milltek to, bit pricey considering the price of others.

Dont suppse you have a vid of yours do you?

Wouldn't mind abit more of a note to the drive.

No sorry, I don't. Could probably arrange something though. What would you want to hear? Idle, throttle blip etc would be easy to do, maybe in-car too. Drive by might be a little more difficult...

I also have a decat fitted which does change the tone and exhaust response too, it's a bit more 'bassy' at idle and when cold. Again, that was done because the turbo failure managed to take out the cat completely! And I sure as hell wasn't paying out to put that back in the system, especially on a diesel :)

These changes only really makes itself known on acceleration and it doesn't drone during normal driving or at constant speed. I'm picky about things like that, so made sure it wouldn't turn out like that.

Pity you're not a bit closer otherwise you could have had a demo :)

Cheers,

Steve

Ah nice one, good read!

I have been offered the Piper Cat-back exhaust system (2 twin pipes like stock) for the TFSI, fingers crossed it will fit / line up ok on my PD170. Expect I will go for this, it has a normal mid box so won't be too boomy. Not sure I will bother with a de-cat... something I could add later if I felt I wanted more.

If your able to add a little vid at some point with any types of sound that would great

what is the bore size of the cat on a petrol VRS? and on the milltek link pipe you removed from your old car is the cat end reduced to fit the oe cat then incresed to the 70mm or is it all 70mm? i have looked every were on the net for pics of the 3 part milltek and can't find any. the pic's for the pipper system look like it runs around the rear sub frame and not over it and i think the spare wheel well will be in the way,( thats if they are showing the right pics) there is a milltek link pipe listed for golfs and leons 170 DPF (same DPF as fitted to octy vrs) that go's from 60mm to 70mm (msvw321) but again no pics also no one willing to tell me if its the some lenth as the octy one

I have the Miltek system on my PD Vrs. There was a step up pipe used to go from the DPF (smaller) to the Miltek centre section (larger).

The milltek step up pipe number i have is MSSK07 goes from 60mm to 70mm. This is one of the listed parts for the 2.0TFSI octavia plus the middle section and rear box. Hope this helps.
