Renewal price from current insurer

£218

Cheapest prices on Confused.com

£337 NC protected with Admiral

£309 NC not protected through Auto Direct

Current insurer's price (only quoted on below sites)

MoneySuperMarket.com

£939

Tesco Compare

£225

Needless to say I'll simply be renewing with current insurer. I don't understand why other insurer's prices aren't anywhere near. Current insurer is eCar insurance.

The whole system is a farce. Prices are all over the place and I'm having trouble finding a car for my brother because of this. Seems they roll a dice and that's what it is. Just the other day for a laugh I got two quotes using a compare site for if I was 3 years older, in my case that would make me 26. I know it isn't accurate but should give me a rough idea of prices. The first car was a Golf R and with 8 years NCB, clean licence and with both parents as name drivers it was £780 at the cheapest. I then did the new Nissan GTR and it was only £200 more.

Just thought why my current insurer might be quoting a silly price on Money Supermarket. They've disappeared off the other comparison sites so I suspect they've decided against using them due to commission prices. They probably made the price artificially high as a two fingers up to Money Supermarket, as the insurer decides the price, and they're bound by a contractual agreement.

Also some insurers only do 5 years no claims. It seems only the expensive insurers give any worthwhile discount for having any more than 5 years NCB.
