ABS Rings

Featured Replies

Hi all my octy mk1 needs a pair of new ABS rings on the front and I don't know if there on the drive shafts or on the hubs if anyone could help as the noise of the ABS pump groaning every five mins is beyond annoying now thanks

The front reluctor rings are integral to the hubs.

Why do you think it's the ABS rings at fault?

When I had the wheels off at work ( I work as a tyre fitter) I could see from the back that the O/S/F ABS ring was all bent so have done my best to straighten it but since then the pump has been groaning but only between 30 to 50 mph and then stops so I'm a bit mythed about it all the rings are being replaced on tuesday and I'm hoping this will solve the problem

I didn't think you could replace just the rings themselves. The correct gap between the ring & the sensor is critical so a bent one is going to make the ABS system very unhappy.

So I take it I have to replace the sensors as well as I want to get it right so I'm not throwing good money after bad this being my first skoda I want it to be a nice one and any help I can get it greatly welcome

Diagnostics will tell you which one needs to be replaced, you will have to replace the hub unit (drive flange) and the wheel bearing.

Oh dear this sounds like it could start getting expensive I have been told you can just replace the rings as I have a pair ordered from euro car part Southampton but I didn't realise I had to replace the hubs and bearings oh BUGGER

Not sure but I got a feeling the ABS ring is actually in the wheel bearing.
