increase performance

Featured Replies

Hi there, my octy is 2011 2.0 TDI CR 5 speed manual and produces only 110 bhp and it does 0-60mph in 12 secs which is slow for me. Is there any way to increase its bhp without damaging engine and the ECU. Em planning to swap the stock air filter with K&N air filter, would that be of any help. I have seen that the same engine is used by other manufacturers like VW and Audi which are tuned to 140, 170 and 210 bhp. So I feel there should be a way of tuning the engine.

Remap will give you best bang for your buck. Not sure what it would give you though, 130-140 bhp would be my guess.

Vag have a number of 2.0 diesel variants with different outputs the most powerful being the 168 bhp used in the vrs. The engines themselves aren't the same though, i.e. it's not just different ecu software. Didn't know there was a 110 bhp one though.

I didn't think so either (well not in 2.0) but maybe its just not in UK as our cars are made to hit certain EU levels might be different in India.

Throwing a K&N air filter in I doubt you would notice any real difference.

That engine can easly be reprogramed to be like the 140hp model.

Rumors around here, the Golf had that engine before the 1.6tdi was put in, that is the same engine as the 140hp with dif. software.

It wasn't available in the UK until recently, but you can now get an SE Plus spec Octavia with the 2.0 110 TDi engine. Its in the official UK brochure.

Possibly referring to the diagnostic socket instead of removing the ECU?

VCDS cannot do anything to alter performance, its a diagnostic tool for clearing fault codes and various other adaptions except performance changes.

The only way to alter performance is a remap, and since your car will have an encrypted ECU the only way to do this is remove the ECU from the car and open it up.

Exactly.
