Service Interval Reset

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone on the Forum!

I'm looking for your opinions please.

Back in the beginning of January, i bought an '07 Octavia Scout. Before i collected it, the car was serviced included oil change, new fuel filter and brake fluid. Today i noticed that the little spanner has come up on the trip counter saying that the car will need a service in either 500 miles or 350 days!

My best guess is that the dealer did not reset the service counter, either via VCDS or by the dash button. Is this a reasonable assumption or a sign of bad things to come?

Before the service in January, the car was last serviced 9000 miles ago, in December 2010.

Thanks for all your help!

Andras

We don't use VCDS but yes it would seem like the service light wasn't reset.

I reset mine last night, after the service was finished. Hold down the trip reset button and turn the ignition to position one - should show "Service" on the odometer screen. At that time, release the trip reset button and then turn the clock adjustment nob (the other stalk to the left of the trip computer reset) to the right and hold it there, until the mileage readout appears on the odometer screen.

If you turn the ignition off and back on you should find the "Service"/"Service Due In..." text should no longer display

I'd be more concerned as to whether the service really was done......

Which is fine providing your on fixed service of course.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments. Judging by the QG1 code and the history in the service book, i think i'm on a variable service. I'll have to get the dealer to reset it, as the button on the dash will change the car to a fixed service intervals.

Thanks,
