Featured Replies

Hi there i am hoping you could Please help me with a problem i have with my mk1 octavia vrs 1.8t.

The problem i keep having is that when i start the car is starts fine and idles fine but as soon as you try to turn the main dipped lights on it dies out and all the dashboard lights go off and are unavailable even when turning key off and removing after a while it comes back on normaly when you touch the wires from the fusebox on top of he battary, all the side lights and green dashboard illuminations work but the car will not start. Please if you can help it would be greatly apreciated as i pove my vrs and it keeps happening

Thanks chris.

Sounds to me like you have a problem with the fuse box on top of the battery. Have you opened it and checked that it hasn't melted? Usually the alternator cable corrodes and causes the fuse box to melt on the inside. To fix you'll need a new alternator cable and new fuse box and atleast 1 fuse

you may be able to repair the cable with solder if it isn't too fried lol

Thanks chris

The one at the end nearest the engine, left hand side looking at it.

To me it does sound like something is either loose or over heating

Common problem the battery fusebox wiring and loom is burning out, you may be able to repair if not too damage
