oil level sensor

Featured Replies

Hiya

I had a snag yesterday i went round a roundabout and my oil light started flashing red and beeping then went off as qiuck as it came on i thought this was strange so i took a look under the bonnet to my surprise there was little or no oil left in the car i quickly replaced the oil and everything seems ok however surly the oil level sensor should of picked this up before it got to this stage has anyone any ideas on how i

A, find the oil level sensor

B, rectify the problem

C, has this happened to anyone before

A - Its a thing with an orange plastic loop handle sticking out of the top of the engine.

B - Pull it out every so often and look at it to see if there's any oil on it. If not, put some more oil in.

C - No never, as I've always done 'B' at least every 2 weeks on every car I've owned :smirk:

Seriously though, ISTR some Octavias don't have an oil level sensor. Its no great loss as it was generally hopelessly inaccurate on those cars I've owned that did have one.

It's under the sump - if fitted.
