The hub assembly above comes with a years warranty...got to be worth something!

Can I fit the hub assembly myself? Without the need of a press or similar?

Thanks for the help.

the bearing will need to be pressed in, and by a skoda dealer. it needs to be pressed in, in a special way so not to crush the inner bearing race.

I meant if the bearing was already in the hub, would I need a special press to get the hub in the knuckle? I've never done it before so forgive me if it's a dim question!

see the ebay link posted above. Thats what youll get from europarts. The bearing will then need pressing into the hub knuckle assembly.

Oh ok, so next question - is the SKF bearing from eurocarparts as 'good' as the OEM bearings? fabdav mentioned about non OEM ones being of questionable quality..

The bearing in pressed into the housing. The hub is pressed into the bearing.

I just had a rear wheel bearing replaced mate...£87 inc parts and VAT

skoda dealers IMO are an absolute waste of money, when a little independent can do the same job, quicker and far cheaper

Yeah eurocarparts I'm thinking is the best, it comes to around 119 with the discount.

I thought it was massively steep, the poor girl on the end of the phone was shocked when I swore in disbelief :giggle: she thought I was having a go at her!

Anyway thanks for all the advice chaps.

I like to do what I can, but yeah you're probably right. It's nice to know what they do charge though so when you get it done for a much better price you don't feel so bad for paying what you did! :D

haha thats exactly it!

Il always choose independants over main dealers if i can, actually find they do a better job tbh!

With the obvious exception of Kwik Fit ;)
