ebay MDI kit and coding

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Will shortly be receiving my new Superb SE from the factory (its on the boat at the moment), but it hasn’t got the MDI fitted.

Have found on ebay this kit:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250976362317?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

which is supposedly oem and comes with all the wiring harnesses (minus actual iPod lead) for plug and play, but according to the seller, it will still need to be coded in order to get the steering wheel remote and dash display to work. The car has a bolero head unit by the way.

My questions to you are:

Are there other kits available that don’t need coding and can literally be plugged in and will work 100% correctly?

What exactly would happen if it wasnt coded? would it play, but just not show up on the dash display and not be able to be controlled by the steering wheel?

Anyone know where I can get coding done reliably and professionally in or near to Suffolk?

Thanks

Does the Bolero have an SD card slot? that is by far the easiest way to get your music onto the head unit.

Nothing will work 100% as intended without the coding being changed

Yes exactly that.

Contact someone local to you who has VCDS they will be able to do the necessary adaptation changes

Thanks for the contact list and info!

Yes the bolero has an sd slot, but the reason I want the MDI is because my iPod is my iPhone and I will be using the phone in the car so want it to charge at the same time. My logic being with an iPhone connected via MDI, it will play my music, connect to (seperate) hands free by Bluetooth and charge all in one tidy go.

I have no idea how to get my music from iTunes onto an sd card for a start. Otherwise it connect iPhone by aux lead for music, connect via cig lighter for power because continued use of BT will kill it quick, then also connect seperate sat nav to cig lighter by way of a splitter. = cables everywhere in a mess.
