So i was thinking, is there a 'pan' which comes under the engine, that plastic which screws on? It would be nice to have one :smirk:

I was looking for 'dark headlights' , but the only ones i found was at eurocarpart?

I want to re-badge me Octy, but can't find '20V TURBO' badge

'Cheap' way getting silicon hoses? :S

Cheers!!

Yes the Octy should have a engine undertray, but a real VAG one isn't cheap, I was just quoted £98+ vat from TPS for one for my A4. :swear: Sure you can get cheap ones on ebay.

Silicone hoses (autobahn88) for a mkiv Golf will fit, & again you'll find them on ebay.

20v TURBO badge  Adding badges is a bit uncool, debadging is cool though

By pan you mean engine undertray, the 1.8t engines don't have them they just have the little thats more of a air guide than a undertray,

I tinted my own headlights altho if your fancy having a go i would buy a spare set of do them then swop them over as they are a pain to split open as they are glued together

Complete front (2x headlights and 2x indicators) would cost about £200 :( And current ones are in good condition. Other thing i thought about, is to sell them, then new set wouldn't be that bad :)

I paid 40 quid for a set of headlights off ebay and got smoked indicators off superskoda

My VRS had an undertray.

£40 for each or pair? new/used? smoked/orignal? :D

Anyone tried THIS , or maybe have a picture with this fitted (full body picture) :)

I think "bowders" has a similar one on his vrs,

I paid 40 quid for a pair of used headlights, didn't fancy buying a new set to pull apart incase i made a mess of them

I paid £30 for a pair of brand new headlights off ebay, amazing how some people can't spell or check their ads properly lol

Finally remembered to get picture for these two thing i don't know anything about

dsc05802s.jpg

What is that red thing?

dsc05806u.jpg

Silver thing?

The red things a forge diverter valve (Dump Valve) and it looks like there new model so i bet its not that old, but it is fitted wrong way round, would work better fitted other way round

The silver thing is a sort of egr valve, but its only really used when you start car and air pump is running, the humming noise for 20 seconds when you start car, took mine off along with all air pump system and blanked it off

We bought Octy about year ago, and it was fitted already. Wrong way round in what way? :wonder: What is purpose of it?

How can you know if either of them have to be changed?

A dump valve works basically like a hydrolic ram but uses air pressure instead, with it fitted like that the boost pressure is coming down the long thin pipe and going into the side of the valve so the spring has to work harder to keep the air pressure back where as if it was fitted other way then boost pressure would be going into the bottom of the valve and pushing against the bottom of the ram and the srping holding the ram wouldn't have to work as hard,

The standard one is fitted that way and i still have the standard one like that but when i went to whitby meet before crimbo going over moors it was blowing boost pressure past the valve and loosing power altho mine is does have a shark remap on it so its running more boost than standard. Before i get it back on road im going to swop standard valve round and see if it makes any differance otherwise its time for a new one,

The silver thing should never need replacing, never heard of anybody on here with one thats gone wrong

I kinda understood, but maybe someone can take picture? :S

The Forge 007P valves are fitted as per the one in your picture and that's the correct way to fit them. The boost doesn't open the valve anyway, the vacuum line going into the top does. If you fit the other way (at least with the Forge ones, that ones a Turbo Dynamics one) it makes a metallic noise because the boost slams the piston against the top of the valve when it opens, but it will still work.

cheers mate! :)

I actually did some VAGCOM logs a few years ago on my Revo stage 1 mkiv Anniversary turning the 007p DV around, & there was very little difference in requested & actual. With the DV on it's side the actual was slightly higher than the right way up, but only by a very small amount. My butt dyno couldn't feel the difference either way round, however the DV was a bit louder on it's side.

Yeah, agree about putting the valve backwards. It is just a valve, so it doesn't affect boost pressure whichever round you have it, but put it backwards and it sounds like someone is torturing a duck under the bonnet!

in terms of badges where are you wanting them for? the octy never had a 20v turbo one other than onthe engine cover.

Well, i had 2 1.8T Octy's and both have 20V TURBO under the OCTAVIA badge :smirk: I'll upload photo later ;)

The non VRS 1.8Ts had a "20v Turbo" one and the 4x4 had a "4x4 Turbo" one. They come up on eBay from time to time or try a scrappies. The dealers still stock them but they're not cheap.

I got an under tray for my MkI VRS from TPS in the summer for about £25. Having done some reading at the time, a lot of people run the VRS without one as its quite easily breakable (I cracked the old one on a speed bump) and is only offers minimal protection to the underside of the car (its only about 2 feet deep tops), on petrol models it seems to be there more for aerodynamics purposes at high speeds. (Mine was the same model number as for the MkIV Golf GTI)

Contrast this to diesel cars, a week or two beforehand my dad spent about £100 on one for his TDI Passat (although he had to buy the fixing kit also). The diesel under tray is much much larger and really does shield the underside of the car much more, it was also padded with absorbent material, whereas the petrol one is just a lump of plastic (presumably to catch any fluid drops etc) which probably accounts for the higher cost between the two.
