Boring, staid, no fun at all

Featured Replies

We had a bit of snowfall in Brussels on Friday afternoon - about 4cm or so. So after work, and after all the traffic jams had cleared (1500km of queues of traffic in little Belgium on Friday!), I took the car out to see how it performs in slippery conditions.

Supberb Combi, 140hp, 4x4 DSG. Plus winter tyres.

Boring. It would only go in straight lines, and I wasn't able to make it misbehave at all. I finally thought to turn off ESP, and that made the wheels spin a bit more, but still, the car would not slide and slip.

I'm delighted. Safe and dependable, and the cars went where it was pointed. Magnificent :) Even after 8 months of ownership, it still impresses me.

Excellent! My son had to drive across Cheshire yesterday evening in his Audi. Two hours later he was on the 'phone to say that his car skidded and weaved it's way through the snow. Strange, we didn't have that problem earlier in the day when we were out in the snow: we were in the Roomster!!

Tried to play with my 170 4x4 yesterday in the snow, even when I left the snow ruts to drive in the deep stuff the car kept pointing forward. Boring, but great and dependable. I haven't even fitted winter tyres, mich sport contact 2's.

Having 2 wheel drive and 'normal' tyres I hope for a 'boring' drive in the snow, however the big old Superb can go a bit supertankery. Still better than the MKI - but not by much. Snow = the barge is at large.
