40,000 miles

Featured Replies

I have a Octavia CR170 approaching 40,000 miles, looking at the Service Chart is it time for a Cam Belt, Fuel and Air Filter.

Skoda recommend that you contact your local dealer for the most up to date intervals (as they change), rather than trusting the handbook.

The cambelt on most Octavia diesel engines should be replaced at 4 years or 80,000 miles, whichever is reached first.

I was told last week by the dealer that my 2010 Superb 170CR didn't need a belt until 120K miles .... or of course (only in the UK) the recommendation of every 4 years.

+1, 100 or 120k for a cambelt and no age limit. CR's use new Continental Cambelts which are longer lasting.

As is always the case with cambelt intervals, you need to check with your local dealer or Skoda UK as there is a lot of misinformation being dished out on forums.

Irrespective of whether Continenetal advertise their belts as lasting longer it is Skoda that set the time/mileage limits.

I was in my local dealer the other week and they had a laminated A4 sheet on the service desk with a list of engines and their intervals. There were at least 20 different engines listed with a huge variation on timings and mileages. It would seem Skoda have moved the goal posts again.

Re conti belts, this is detailed in the service regime in the book - 100k and no time limit.

If this is changed the supplying dealer should supply up to date information or service book supplements. If you didn't get the car from Skoda then i agree, the onus is on the owner to obtain up to date info.

Its a bit like you booking a 2 week holiday but you don't find out until you get there that they've changed it to 10 days.....it is up to the supplier/shop/agent to tell you.
