Fabia Vrs buyers advice

Featured Replies

Hi all, new here so apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I am going to look at this car tomorrow and am after a bit of advice from the people that know about them.

My questions are:

Does it seem the right price? (obviously i will try to get the price down and or get some added things in with the deal.)

What should i be looking out for on a car with this mileage? i.e clutch, bushes etc. I understand it will need a new belt at 80,000?

Would you recommend an AA inspection on this sort of car?

Thanks for your time.

Oh and would this be a good contender for 170bhp remap?

Looks nice!

Belt is due every 4 years or 60k miles iirc

Would map to 160/170 bhp yes

Was too late already gone!

I'm having a hard time finding my VRS! They seem to be like hens teeth at the moment.

Ideally i'm after a standard one in anything but yellow. Around 50k miles on an 05 or similar if anyone is selling one or knows someone!

Cheers

keep your eye on the for sale section

That's very low miliage but £6.5K for a seven year old car that only cost £12k new is very expensive in my opionion. They do crop up from time to time on the for sale here. I'd imagine a standard car is pretty rare (mine is) as most have been tinkered with. i'd be patient and buy the best you can afford. You could have had mine last year when i was going to sell it, but I decided to hang on to it! I would not be afraid of higher miles if the thing has history as this engine is easily capable of over 200K if well looked after. One thing to get straight is whether the car has been run or topped up with the correct 5w/40 engine oil (VW 505.01 spec) as anything else can mean a ruined top end and huge bills.

P.S don't overlook the standard 1.9 TDI 100BHP in the elegance. It is probably a whole lot cheaper and is still a rapid little car. You can also easily chip it up to VrS style power
