Nice Surprise ... Insurance

Featured Replies

Phoned my current insurers (The Caravan Club) to arrange for my insurance to transfer to my new Yeti on 1 March.

I have to get a refund of £106 for the five remaining months on the policy! Result!

I knew depsite the Yeti having the same engine as my current Octavia vRS (170TDi) it was a good few insurance groups lower but wasn't expecting such a big difference.

With full no claims I paid £478 for the year with the Octavia, based on the above saving I expect to pay high £200's for the Yeti for the year come renewal time in July.

Well pleased!

Just went with Privilege £204. Pnc, courtesy car etc.

My original insurer Admiral wanted £335 though generously offered a £30 discount for loyalty.

Yep, I've just renewed at £289 which is 1p less than last year - for 10k miles pa, but no commuting or business use, through More Than.

Skoda wanted £411, so I've stayed put. I was considering going for the separate £50 Skoda Ensurance scheme, but they only guarantee repairs for 12 months, which is ridiculous given the whole point is to use genuine Skoda parts in any repair. With More Than, they are guaranteed for as long as you own the car, so I'm prepared to take the risk of having to argue with them if the worst happens!

So, I'm impressed with the low premium. I wonder if they have realised that it's a 160hp monster!

My 170 costs less to insure than my old 1.6 Octavia did, which was a 1999 and worth next to nothing.

My insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month. Thought I'd see what Skoda would quote for my current '03 Octavia (110), then switched the car for the Yeti (170) due (hopefully) in May/June. £140 difference - with the Yeti being the cheaper at around £330! Otherwise quotes seem to be a little higher for the Yeti than the Octavia which I'd expect, given the difference in value.

Some people on here grumble about caravans (see my topic on 'How about this behind your Yeti?') but us caravanners can have the last laugh when it comes to insurance, belonging to the Caravan Club gives you access to some good deals - their household cover is pretty good too (and they understand about tow bars etc !!)

Just for your info guys, there is a section on Briskoda where you should be discussing insurance.....it is here

Well, yes. Its another of those quite model specific insurance cases, but like the whole tyres thing, should stick to the forums that its designed for. :)
