Has anyone fitted a new Furby vRS grille?

Featured Replies

Hi

Following a disagreement with a couple of Pheasants (see previous post! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?p=313112#post313112) I seem to be having a problem getting the right replacement part. I ordered a new grille for the car and when it arrived it did not have the vRS badge attached.

I removed the badge from the original grille which had an adhesive rear. On the grille fitted to the car is a flat rectangular locating panel which was the same size as the badge. This I assume is to securely mount the badge on as the grille is slated so there is hardly any surface area for a badge to stick to. It would also insure the badge is fitted in the same place on all Furby's.

I phoned the dealer and enquired as to whether they sent the right grille. According to them there is only one grille (same part number) for all the Fabia's and the missing locating panel must come with the badge? This means you would have to glue the flat locating surface on first and then mount the badge. Seems strange.

Has anyone had to do this on theirs or have any knowledge? The flat mounting panel on the grille seems moulded to it and is definitely not removable.

One other thing although the part numbers appear the same there is another number stamped on the grilles which are different.

Original grille on car: 001 01 117 513 00 01

Replacement grille from dealer: 002 01 117 513 00 01

Dealer said this is just a batch number? Strange it's only one digit out!

Any advice appreciated!

Matt

When you order a "v" grill badge, it comes with the plastic grill mounting as well.

I know because i fitted one to my tdi a while back

There are grooves in this so that you can line up with the slats in the grill.

Just glue this on and then fit the v badge onto it. :)

Thanks for that

You have put my mind at rest!

I will go and put the new grille on now in preparation for the badge arriving on Tuesday!

I suppose any super glue will do for the mounting panel?

superglue worked for me.
