fabia 1 v Fabia 2. pros & cons(including water leaks)

Featured Replies

I have a 2002 Fabia 1.9Tdi estate and although it is in excellent codition and only done 78K miles I am considering updating to a similar 2nd hand Mk2 model. I suffered the infamous door water leaks on this car and had the task of sealing all 4 doors with Tiger Seal. This is a process I don't relish having to do on another car and I wondered if the Mk2 suffers the same problem yet or if anyone knows if it has more reliable inner door seals?

Could anyone with knowledge of both models give a general comparison of the models with any faults the Mk2 may have that the Mk1 didn't and vice-verca.

Cheers,

Skodaoldy

No problems with the door seals as far as I know - however I have a newer vRS Estate so can't comment on the earlier Fabia 1/2/3 trim level MK2's.

Over the moon with mine as I had a MK1 vRS so sort of a direct comparison :)

No water ingress on my mk2 Fabia, i didn't have it on the Mk1 either.

I had a Mk1 and had water leaks and a couple of temperature censors changed but on my Mk2 everything seems to be ok.

yeah, no water leaks, and I pressure wash mine with the work industrial pressure washer ;)

I had the MK1 1.9Tdi estate and loved it all except for those damn water leaks. I even did the door carrier mod and the water still found its way in. I can promise you there is NO PROBLEM on the Mk 2. Not having to mop up the condensation from the inside windscreen every morning is testement to just how much better the MK2 is.
