De-cat and fmic's from ebay

Recommended Posts

Having just finished fitting my 600x300 cored universal FMIC (ebay no: 35049391411) and de-cat (ebay no: 220779433487) with downpipe that I bought from ebay, I thought I should let people know the pro's and con's I came across.

Both items came from 2fast2cool2 and they are both visually good quality pieces of kit. (Not taking it for re-map till May so will have to wait until we find out some figures.)

Fitting of the de-cat was simple and all fittings and flanges are perfect. Gaskets are perfect and finish looks great. Also gives a nice change in note and engine sounds and feels far more beefy.

The FMIC is a ball ache to fit however it is about as big as I could fit into the space. The one I decided to go for has both inlet and outlet on the drivers side so I have routed the 3 inch alloy pipe provided to the throttle body via a route behind the headlamp and the lower pipe to the shaped piece behind the wheel arch lining.

All the parts cost less than £260 for both pieces and 2 x 2.5" to 3" converters. So if these items perform well when I take it to Shark in May then I can't see why people wouldn't want to spend abit of time messing with pipe to fit their own custom FMIC.

Biggest issue with FMIC is making a flange for the MAP sensor to fit in. I did this with a small block of alloy with tapped threads and a hole Tig welded to the 3" Alloy pipe. (welded by my sister-in-law's engineering firm for free :)

Just my opinion but i'd say very good so far. I'll keep you upto-date with any issues and how my trip to Shark goes in May.

Will be taking some when I next have the car to pieces to investigate a small leak I think is coming from one of my hoses on intercooler but as car isn't going to be on the road till May i'm in no rush to sort everything in a rush. Got to convince the mrs that its a good plan to fit what I want to it before it goes on the road. :)

I bought mine off ebay also and I agree the flange for the MAP sensor was a issue, had to take it to JP exhaust to fix me a flange up close the the manifold
