Headlights

Featured Replies

Ok, i own a vRS and i think we are all agreed that the ability of the projection headlights is absolutely poor. However, i now also own a Monte (had it three days) and this morning was the first time i had call to use the headlights. Again these a projection units but they are so much better.

Does anyone know why this is?

Monte Carlo fitted with better bulbs?

Your vrs has low/high beam with single bulb and monte has one for each, projector for low and reflector for high?

Placebo?

Think the monte has a single bulb for both hi an lo beam with a shutter in front of it, that moves out the way web u want hi beam

My vRS as standard projector headlights with separate bulbs for dip and high beam. Also as the blue bulbs that don't get used.

On our Elegance the small blue bulb lights up if we use the parking lights.

Just been out and tried the parking lights, the left or right DRL came on along with the rear light depending on which way the indicator stalk was pushed.

OK, thanks for that.

Yep knew the vRS has two H7 bulbs, one for dipped and one for main. I have already uprated these over the standard bulbs fitted by Skoda.

I don't believe the single bulb version users a shutter(?), the H4 being a twin filament bulb.

However, the point i was making was that both use the lamp projectors, and in my opinion, i found that the ones fitted to the Monte provides greater illumination than those fitted to the vRS, even with the uprated bulbs i am using (please don't ask me which i cannot remember but were recommended on here).

Must just be better bulbs, I only mentioned the shutter design as someone on here mentioned it when I asked.
