Heated washer spray jets

Featured Replies

Whats funny is this part off ebay is £1.10p more expensive then if your bought it from your dealers

whats even funnier is the fact dealers dont really advertise whats available in aftermarket bits and bobs

apart from whats in the brochure at time of ordering ive no idea what they can offer so maybe they should advertise these a little more, na, even push the fact a little more ;)

I wouldn't really call a retro fitted part an aftermarket item though as it is not exactly just a swap over part, you are going to need to find out where to plug the looms in and possibly some VCDS coding as well.

And possibly a seperate Relay

either way Kie, its not the first time youve alerted us to products that can be had for same/similar money yet anytime ive been into the dealers ive not even known about them without having to ask and im always put off because i expect it to cost that little bit more from a dealer.

if your cheaper then let us know, you never know that thing i never really thought about now sounds appealing coz its not that expensive ;)

I thought these were standard on vrs :( maybe not then gonna have to check. Also guys doea the fabia not have a washer bottle low indicator or anything?? I thought this was pretty much standard.

Excuse my ignorance but what does it do? does it actually heat up the water? and why?

Hi,

It has the same funktion as heated sidemirrors, more or less. It heats up the nozzels so you can use the washer in freezing conditions, so it doesn´t get clocked up by ice.

I see. That actually happened to me once. One nozzle was blocked due to freezing conditions. And I was like eh?

I try my best for example the springs and stuff but your dealers should be exposing these

accessories in the dealerships so you can see them clearly. It anoys be abit how layed back some dealers are but from now on if there are offers on ect or new accessories coming into your local dealers i will post a new topic about them sop you can compare costs

It works abit like heated mirrors except theres no switch, if there is water in the Nozzle that has frozen they heat up to melt the water to keep the nozzles unblocked from frozen water, there is antifreeze in screenwash but water that has been sitting inside the nozzle constantly exposed to the wind coming over the bonnet can cause the water to somtimes freeze and block the nozzle

Or you just use enough screenwash instead ;).

I've been using my screenwash down to - 30 C, no problems x).

I have emailed the seller about these as they ae a Skoda dealer, and hopefully they will reply soon and I can let you know if they fit from the shelf or need additional wiring, etc!

(God, this new format is a pain! Would have been worth it if the site got quicker. Its one of the slowest sites I know. Briskslow-der)!

Had reply from the seller... They informed me that the heated washer jets were fitted to higher spec cars as an option or in some cases standard, but they are unsure as to retro-fitting them. They suggest seeking advice from an auto electrician to see if it can be done.

This in its-self does not mean you have not got the wiring already in situ to fit them just an "I dont know" Answer from the dealer!

Still, better than a "Yes you can" When you clearly cannot! I would suggest owners of varying models look at their washers to see if they are heated and /or see if there is a spare connector in the vacinity! The supplied replacement part only has a short piece of wiring, so it wont be too far!

Do you Vrs owners have these as standard? This will help others in the fitment knowledge department.

I doubt there will be wiring in place running to the bonnet but rather in the engine bay somewhere. If there isn't any wiring then I would suspect that it would be very simple to wire into the heated mirror switch and use that feed.

Other than that the only other option is to find a car with them fitted from factory and trace the wiring back.

I'd prefer a heated windscreen water bottle rather than the nozzle to heat all the water up as a few times in my old Fabia the screen wash was frozen solid. That was the super winter of 2010 though, Got temperatures at 9pm of -15°C in my works car park.

Heated washer nozzles are no substitute for the correct strength washer fluid, but even with the correct strength fluid the nozzles can freeze due to the wind chill, hence the heated nozzles.

If you use a good strength screen wash then it's unlikely the bottle will freeze. We have been in germany with silly minus temperatures and the bottle never froze.

The problem we had that the washer jets were on the bonnet on the peugeot and so froze straight away. On this car they are tucked under the lip of the bonnet.

Where are they on the Fabia 2?
