Three Button Key Fob Programming

Featured Replies

SWMBO's Fabia has 2 x three button fobs, so I thought I would nick one of them and set it up for my Octavia.

I put the bladed part of my spare key with the three button fob from the Fabia.

I put a "normal"/original key in the ignition and turned the ignition on.

I used one of the hybrid keys to lock the door manually from the driver's door.

I pressed LOCK on the hybrid key. Then unlocked the door manually so that I could turn the ignition off.

Now I have a hybrid key that locks/unlocks both cars! The odd thing though is that the boot release (the whole point of the exercise) still works on the Fabia using the hybrid key, but doesn't work on the Octavia.

Does remote boot release need to be enabled with VCDS?

Does the key learn the car, or does the car learn the key? It seems like the latter as the hybrid key unlocks (remotely) both cars. Is this right?

thanks

Martin

If your Missus's other key stops working. They can just give up after a while... You're in for a great deal of fun when she wants to simply use her other key to go to work etc.

Whilst coding them up is easy I don't have a clue as to how you'd remove its privileges. I assume you'd need to visit a dealer or get software capable of doing it.
