Will the Fabia vRS get new FSI TDI engine??

Featured Replies

Been thinking about a Fabia vRS for some time now but I am wondering if anyone has heard of any rumours that they will change the old 130 bhp engine for the new 140 bhp FSI TDI engine from the new Golf??

There was an announcement that the Furby will get a EuroIV diesel in October ( which sholuld be MY06 ).

Whether it is the 140, or an emission controlled 130 - Who knows, only Skoda !

FSI is the new technology for petrol engines. e.g. Mk V Golf Gti 2.0 FSI T.

But I suppose the natural assumption would be that the next engine would be the 2.0TDI (140) if they are staying with diesel but I doubt that will be any time soon.

Just wondering whether to wait for the EuroIV diesel, if it's not too long before it comes out, or buy now?

The Euro IV engine will be an adapted version of the existing engine. They have already done it to the 105bhp version with the DSG gearbox in the new Octavia. It's not an obsolete engine and is still used in many guises (including a roumoured Golf GTD with the 160 version from the Ibiza Cupra D) so would not make sense to discontinue it for the forseeable future

Wouldn't the reg be 55 though ;)
